Sandstone, Ramparts, and Red Dust
Jaipur, Marwar, Jawai & Udaipur
A comprehensive overland journey through Rajasthan's royal dynasties, moving from Jaipur's pink sandstone avenues and Pushkar's sacred lake to Jodhpur's cliffside fortress and Udaipur's island palaces.

The Story
What happens when you arrive
The journey opens in Jaipur's planned eighteenth-century grid, exploring the mirror-clad courtyards of Amber Fort and the astronomical observatories of Jantar Mantar. Traveling west past the Sufi sanctuary of Ajmer Sharif and the sacred lake of Pushkar, the route reaches Jodhpur's indigo-painted lanes beneath Mehrangarh Fort.
Heading south, open 4x4 safaris in Jawai track leopards basking on granite kopjes near Rabari settlements. Crossing the Aravallis to Ranakpur's marble forest and Kumbhalgarh's 36-kilometre wall, the journey concludes with a sunset cruise on Lake Pichola in Udaipur.
Cultural Context
Dynastic Stonecraft and Living Guilds
Rajasthan's dynastic heritage is etched into stone geography: Jaipur's eighteenth-century planned urban grid, Jodhpur's cliff-carved Mehrangarh battlements, and Udaipur's island palaces. Across these royal centers, living artisan guilds continue centuries of miniature painting, bandhani tie-dye, and metalwork.
