Cloud Canopy and Foothill Floodplain
Neora Valley Forests, Gorumara & the Bhutan Border
Linking virgin cloud forests of the Eastern Himalayas with alluvial floodplains of the Dooars, this route navigates the biodiversity corridor along the Bhutan border with forest walking and 4x4 rhino tracking.

The Story
What happens when you arrive
Climbing through sub-tropical foothills to the quiet ridge of Lava (2,130m), nature walks in Neora Valley National Park explore undisturbed montane cloud forest canopies of oak and rhododendron.
Descending into the Dooars along the Bhutan border, open 4x4 safaris in Gorumara National Park navigate sal forests to track one-horned rhinos and elephants from elevated watchtowers, concluding along the rushing gorges of the Jaldhaka River.
Cultural Context
Cloud Forest Sanctuaries and Frontier Ecology
The Bhutan border corridor connects undisturbed Himalayan cloud forest canopies with fertile Terai floodplains. Neora Valley shelters rare sub-alpine biodiversity, while the Dooars' forest fringe communities maintain delicate balances between tea cultivation and wild elephant migration corridors.
